గ్రహణం (ఆంగ్లం: Eclipse) ఖగోళంలో జరిగే ఒక దృశ్య సంఘటన. దీనిలో ఒక గ్రహం యొక్క నీడ మరొక గ్రహం మీద పడుతుంది.

చంద్ర గ్రహణం

చంద్రునికి సూర్యునికి మధ్యగా భూమి వచ్చి చంద్రుడి మీద భూమి నీడ పడుతుంది. దీన్ని చంద్ర గ్రహణం అంటారు. ఇది ఎప్పుడూ AMAVASYA నాడు కనిపిస్తుంది. చంద్ర గ్రహణం ఎక్కువ సమయం (కొన్ని గంటలు) మొత్తం అర్థగోళం అంతా కనిపిస్తుంది.

సూర్య గ్రహణం

సంపూర్ణ సూర్య గ్రహణం1999.

భూమికి సూర్యుడికి మధ్యగా చంద్రుడు వచ్చినప్పుడు సూర్య గ్రహణం ఏర్పడుతుంది. ఇది ఇంచుమించు 7 ని. 40 సె. సమయం మాత్రమే ఉంటుంది. ఇది సంభవించినప్పుడు చంద్రుడు కక్ష్యలో భూమికి దగ్గరగా ఉన్నప్పుడు సంపూర్ణ సూర్య గ్రహణం అవుతుంది. ఎక్కువసార్లు ఇది పాక్షికంగానే సూర్యున్ని మూసివేయగలుగుతుంది.
